Now you've all heard the anti-gay-marriage campaigners - in all their self-righteous raging homophobic glory - droning on and on about "traditional marriage", "God's intentions" and "Biblical teachings", as they condemn same-sex marriage and cry out that it's clearly something evil sent into this world by Satan himself to destroy us all.

You've listened, you've heard, you've observed, but you're not yet fully convinced that the haters are right and you simply don't have the time to read the whole Bible yourself right now.

As all the Right-Wing Christian Conservative Blow-Hard (RWCCBH) homophobes down there in the States continue to blather on about how gay marriage is going to destroy traditional marriage, I just keep scratching my head, struggling with all my might to understand just what the $&#% they're talking about.

That buffoon Benedict is at it once again, lashing out at gays in yet another hate-filled speech and declaring that civilization must be saved from the evil, destructive influence of homosexuality (read more here: Pope attacks blurring of gender, and here: Gay groups angry at Pope remarks).

Now that's a Christmas message we can all get behind, isn't it? A message of peace, love and joy. Yet another classic in a long line of greats, such as the one about the corrosive influence of premarital sex on society; the one concerning the evils of birth control, particularly condoms (even in AIDS-ravaged places such as sub-Saharan Africa); and let's not forget that oldie-but-goodie: the need to conquer and convert all heathens and infidels.

We know that throughout history conservatives have constantly fought tooth and nail against equality and justice? But the question remains, why? Could it be a sickness?

What's up with conservatives anyway? Time after time they have been shown to have been on the wrong side of history, standing strong, tall and proud against justice, equality and progress. Yet in the present they always seem to stubbornly cling to their bankrupt way of thinking, as they insist on opposing all progressive change, whatever it may be. Of course today's typical conservative wouldn't defend slavery or deny women the vote, but, in the end, it's the same mindset and, without a doubt, today's conservatives, had they been around back in the day, would have supported the status quo then, just as they do today. The conservative mind remains the same, it's just the topics under discussion that change.

Now this is a great interview! It's Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report interviewing Joe Solmonese, a prominent gay lobbyist from the homosexual rights organization Human Rights Campaign, in a hilarious 2-part interview (5 minutes each). Definitely a must see!

Ok, look, it's the holiday season and I really don't have the time, nor the inclination, to rant right now; however, I've sadly been left with no other choice.

Believe me, I was just trying to get into the holiday spirit yesterday when, out of nowhere, I got blindsided by none other than the Holy Pontiff; and he simply left me with no other option but to stand up to his bigotry, hatred and illogical ravings. Hey, somebody's got to do it, right?

The Vatican has once again come out this week - with a full "report" no less - condemning gay marriage as "the greatest threat to the family" the world has ever seen. Or some such crap. Let's just ignore for the moment the ridiculousness of the whole idea of 2 gay people wanting to share their lives together somehow being a threat to The Family. What I really want to ask is this: Isn't the idea of a bunch of never-married celibate men lecturing the world about marriage more than just a bit ludicrous?
